Watch order and why

SELECT is the reason semaglutide is more than a weight-loss drug, so the playlist opens with two views of it: NEJM's video abstract for the numbers and a Cleveland Clinic investigator for the headline. The Harvard prescribing video is the how: indications, contraindications, cautions, pens and titration, checked line by line against the Wegovy and Saxenda labels. The Cleveland Clinic podcast is the long conversation people actually want to have, with side-effect frequencies and the long-term framing.

Numbers to carry with you

STEP 1, 68 weeks: 14.9 percent mean loss against 2.4 percent on placebo. SELECT, mean 39.8 months: primary cardiovascular composite 6.5 against 8.0 percent, hazard ratio 0.80 (PubMed 37952131). Label escalation for Wegovy: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 and 2.4 mg, four weeks each. Most common adverse reactions: nausea 44 percent, diarrhoea 30, vomiting 24, constipation 24, against 16, 16, 6 and 11 percent on placebo.

Where these videos stop

Two of the four were recorded in 2022 and describe SELECT and tirzepatide as future events; the fact-checks say what has changed. None covers the higher semaglutide dose studied since, the oral formulations in detail, or compounded semaglutide, which is not FDA approved and not interchangeable with Wegovy or Ozempic.
